Portlethen Academy has a large and dynamic Mathematics department which is committed to providing positive progression and challenge to pupils from S1 to S6.
All pupils will engage with the Mathematics department until fourth year where they can gain their first National qualifications. After that pupils may choose to continue with their Maths progression through National courses, Higher and up to Advanced Higher.
The department boasts strong industry links and events such as STEM in the Pipeline and problem solving seminars from spokespeople in the oil industry.
The department provides comprehensive support for those striving to reach their potential by offering after school revision sessions and a Spring Holiday revision class.
Pupils from all years are encouraged to get involved with all the maths department has to offer including weekly puzzles, Maths Club, Chess Club and the annual Pi Day competition!
