Welcome to Portlethen Academy’s website.

Portlethen Academy is a comprehensive school of around 950 pupils, serving the catchment in and around the town of Portlethen, in South Aberdeenshire (North-East of Scotland).

At Portlethen Academy, our shared vision is to ‘be the very best we can be’.  To achieve this, we are READY:

  • Ready for learning.
  • Ready to contribute to our local community.
  • Ready to overcome challenges.
  • Ready for life and the world of work.

This is underpinned by our 3 Core Values (Respect, Responsibility and Resilience), which helps to generate engaged, knowledgeable, and motivated young people who are equipped with qualifications and skills for life, learning and work beyond school.

Portlethen Academy has a broadening curricular offer that enhances learning opportunities in a real-life and relevant context, and we are working on developing further links in and around our community that support skills development, pathways, and work-based experiences for our young people as part of the Excelerate programme with the Wood Foundation.

We take great pride in working with and for our local community and enjoy collaborating with our partners and stakeholders to showcase the many talents of our young people.

We welcome the chance to work with you as parents and carers, members of the local community, Cluster primary schools and/or business partners to help improve and enhance opportunities for our pupils.

This website will provide an overview of Portlethen Academy, the work we are undertaking, our policies and procedures, key updates, and successes.  It is continually being developed and updated and will become your ‘one-stop’ location for all up to date information.   I hope you find it useful.
