This covers practical and theoretical activites which will help to build knowledge and skills in preparing healthy, tasty, affordable dishes.
Pupils learn about good food choices and hopefully develop lifelong healthy eating habits. They also develop their understanding of food hygiene and will learn about influences on our food choice such as advertising and the media.
Home Economics is not one subject but a field of study which includes a wide range of topics such as nutrition, diet and health, food science, consumer education, textile technology, food product development, practical food preparation skills, to name a few. Pupils taking Home Economics develop not only valuable life skills but can become equipped with
knowledge that can lead to many career opportunities.
