Scottish Baccalaureate In Science

Pupils hoping to secure a career in Sciences and who qualify for entry onto this course are encouraged to do so.  It is a prestigious course that adds value to their learning in Science in the Senior Phase and is usually aimed at our most able scientists, as it is mainly composed of a research project in collaboration with an industrial link.  Pupils thoroughly enjoy the course, as they normally undertake research into their preferred area of interest.  It is a very worthwhile course that attracts UCAS and tariff points and often adds weight to university applications for oversubscribed courses.  The course involves a great deal of self-study and being highly motivated is an essential quality if pupils are considering it.  Pupils are guided through the course by their supervisor and there are regular checkpoints throughout the year with the supervisor.
